Delete your account

You can delete your Monetari account and its data from inside the app. This page explains the exact steps, what is erased, and what is kept afterwards.

Effective 12 September 2026

1. Which app this covers

This page covers Monetari, the automatic expense tracker published on Google Play under the package name com.kjakopovic.mona, and the account behind it.

2. Signing out is not deleting

These are two different things, and it is worth being clear about which one you want.

  • Signing out ends the session on that phone and removes the stored login. Your account and everything in it stay exactly as they are, and signing back in restores access. In the app: open More, scroll to the bottom, tap Sign out, then confirm.
  • Deleting your account is permanent. It erases your financial records and revokes your login. It cannot be undone, and support cannot restore a deleted account. The steps are in the next section.

3. How to delete your account

In the Monetari app:

  1. Open More from the bottom navigation bar.
  2. Under Data, tap Privacy and data.
  3. Scroll to Erase data.
  4. Choose the option to delete your financial account data and confirm when the app asks “Delete financial account data?”.

The app queues an erasure job and signs you out. Deletion runs in the background rather than instantly, so access is revoked immediately while the data removal completes shortly afterwards.

4. If you cannot open the app

If you have lost the device, cannot sign in, or have already uninstalled Monetari, email hello@info.monetari.app from the address on the account and ask for the account to be deleted. We may need to confirm that the address is yours before erasing anything — that check protects you from someone else deleting your records.

5. What is deleted

Completing the erasure job deletes:

  • all of your live financial data — transactions, totals, captures, raw notification text, categorisation signals, merchant rules, budgets, paired devices, settings and history;
  • every account export you have generated, and its download link;
  • your login identity and any active sessions.

This data is erased explicitly rather than left to expire on its own, and the deletion covers the account across every device signed into it.

6. What is kept, and for how long

Three things outlive the deletion job. None of them is used to rebuild your account, and none is queryable by the app.

  • Encrypted backups. Point-in-time recovery snapshots expire on their own backup schedule rather than being edited, which is how backups have to work to be trustworthy.
  • Security and operational logs. Kept only for their configured retention period. Application logs are currently configured for 3 months in production. Some security records may be held longer where needed to investigate abuse or to establish or defend a legal claim.
  • Shared exchange-rate data. Published currency rates contain no account data and are used by everyone, so they are not tied to you and are not removed.

If a legal duty requires us to keep something specific — a tax or accounting record, for example — we keep only that, for only as long as the duty lasts. The privacy policy sets out retention in full.

7. Questions

Write to hello@info.monetari.app and a person will answer. You can also ask us to confirm that a deletion has completed.
